“My study results increased remarkably just after two academic terms receiving the scholarships” When I passed the entrance examination to my university, my family and I were in a mix feeling of happiness and worries. My family and I were very happy with my examination results. However, we knew it was the beginning of a long and rough journey in the meantime. We didn’t know how we could manage to pay such an amount of tuition fee and high living cost in Saigon for the coming four years of studying. In such situation, I had to find part-time jobs as soon as settling down. Although limited time for studying, I did my best to study effectively and to apply for sponsorships. Luckily, I was qualified for a MENLA scholarship when I was at my 3rd year. My study results increased remarkably just after two academic terms receiving the scholarships. Thanks to it, I could spend more time focusing on studying and joining some extra English and soft skill courses.”
“My dream was to support my parents and to have bright future for myself and my family” “My mother got stomach cancer when I was a grade 5th pupil. Our life became chaotic and tough because my father was just a manual labor with unstable and low income. All the burdens of my family fell on his shoulders. Meanwhile, my mother was a farmer and she couldn’t work anymore since then. My father has had to work very hard to cover my mother’s treatment fees and to raise the two kids. My dream was to support my parents and to have bright future for myself and my family. In order to make it come true, I’ve tried my best to perform well at school so that I could get awards from student contests, examinations or sponsoring programs. It’s my honor to be selected for MENLAscholarship last year. Those prizes and sponsorship not only supported us financially but also motivated us to keep the faith and to carry on our dream.
“So many times, I have faced with the risk of quitting school to support my family like my brother did” “I was born in a family of six children. We live with our father who has suffered from very poor health condition since I was a little boy. My elder brother had to give up school at his early ages to bring up his five brothers and sisters including me. So many times, I have faced with the risk of quitting school to support my family like my brother did. Fortunately, thanks to my dedicated brother and kind hearted sponsors, I could complete my bachelor. Remembering the day I got the first sponsorship of MENLA, I couldn’t believe it was the reality. It’s an honor for me and my family to get MENLA scholarships continuously during my undergraduate years. It was a challenging journey and I am happy that I’ve finished it. I just got a job in a construction company few weeks ago as soon as my course was completed. I can live on my own and partly support my younger brothers and sisters with their school now.
